This campground is located outside of Yosemite Valley, requiring a 45-minute drive to reach the main attractions. However, the trade-off is a more tranquil setting with campsites situated alongside the river and a less crowded atmosphere compared to the larger campgrounds within the valley. While the individual sites aren't exceptionally spacious, private, or unique, I enjoyed the quieter ambiance. A convenience store is located within 1-1.5 miles, and Mariposa Grove is approximately 6-7 miles away.

This is a beautiful campground, first come, first serve. We camped right by the river and had a wonderful campfire. The bathrooms are very clean and heated.

The camp ground has great condition of restrooms. Clean and neat. The surrounding area is pretty filled with a natural vibe. Recommend to have this camp ground reserved to do several good hikes in Yosemite National Park. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Stayed in the C-Loop which is farthest away from the road and closest to the river fork. As several others said, the river is almost always cold. The outside temperature was 90F and the river still felt pretty cold. May be it is more suitable for trying try right after a sweaty hike.

This is a beautiful campground with some sites right by the river. We stayed at site 34 and 79.

Site 34 was right by the river and we could hear the river flow almost the entire time. It's a quiet and peaceful place. The restrooms were clean and the neighbors were respectful. Overall very good experience camping at site 34. The parking area for the site is inclined so it's not suitable for car camping. Each site comes with a bear locker which is very well maintained and clean.

Site 79 is in loop C and the sites are very close to each other. Luckily we didn't have anyone on site 78 and so we had no issues with privacy. The restroom in loop C had a dish washing sink too. Though we didn't have direct access to the river, but still we could see and hear it.

We will definitely return back to this campground when visiting Yosemite.

This campground is a hidden gem! It's far enough from the village that it's not crowded. There's a river running next to it and you can jump in and splash around. The rangers come by a couple times a day and are really friendly. Bathrooms were clean. It's definitely a great place to have a base camp. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Absolutely beautiful campgrounds with river backdrop and between Redwood trees. There’s ample shade and space. Each standard site can have 2 to 3 tents and 2 big car parking spaces. There’s clean water and other facilities. There are regular flush toilets that are very well maintained and spacious. Loved camping here!!

Absolutely amazing place to stay in Yosemite with a gushing river as the backdrop! We stayed in April for 3 nights and did one day walking the Mariposa of giant sequoias (15min ish away) and one day we drove to Yosemite lodge and did the mist trail hike (45min drive) - en route you pass the most amazing vista point of El Capitan and waterfalls etc. we originally wanted to stay at camp 4 or around the Yosemite lodge area but after visiting it for the day we were so happy we could return to peaceful wawona! No showers but who cares! Very reasonable price too and we were able to book last minute as off-season - but book in advance if possible! General store a 4 min drive away for essentials and even had phone service here.
