Valley Community Counseling Center is attached to a college. The therapists there are all fulfilling their service hours to graduate. For this reason, it takes them a long time to get back to you, which they fully explain upfront. For this reason, it is also affordable. You sign a waiver that all of your sessions will be recorded, but that is for the protection of you. Every therapist there is under the direct supervision of someone who is clinically licensed to practice therapy and they will review your sessions with your student therapist and provide the student with feedback. When you call, leave a voicemail. They will take about 2 weeks to get back to you. Then they do an intake interview. That takes about 30 minutes. Then it takes about 4- 6 weeks to place you with a therapist. Meetings are for one hour once a week. You pay what you can afford and it is income-based. I pay $40 a session. The counseling me and my partner have received has been of high quality and we believe it has already improved our relationship and changed our way of thinking. We are only a few weeks in, but we are very content with services thus far and are impressed we feel this way so soon. As far as the other review, it is regretful that they were in that situation, but this is not an emergency services line and it seems that person required emergency mental care. This was the wrong resource for them. People in non-emergency situations who would like affordable counseling services on an ongoing basis should absolutely inquire.
