I recently enrolled in this institution. My impression of the school has changed. It all makes sense now. Mrs. Straws rushes you to enroll. I found out she is also one of the instructors as well as the director. Her professional is OFF. I noticed that she forgets stuff as well. I feel as though her motives are for financial gain rather than actually helping individuals better their life. If you pay attention you can see through her sassy demeanor. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this school unless this is your VERY LAST OPTION. You can definitely say you get what you pay for. I can say that the location is convenient and the students are nice but that’s about it.

My experience at UMBI has changed my life fot the better. Mrs Straws is a great leader. She is the most driven person i have ever met.She doesn't give up on her students. Even when shes faced with a dilemma, she will aggressively be proactive on finding a way to get through it. I witness her patience, perseverance, and self control. It have been times that wanted to give up at times but she encourage me to continue to move forward. She believed in me even when i didn't believe in myself. For that I will be forever great. One of my instructors were Mrs. Swanson. At times she came off to be not so nice, but with maturity and growth, i understand and see clearly on what her intentions were. Mrs Swanson challenged me. She gave me constructive criticism. I truly believe that because of her i am now unafraid of challenges. I now have the courage to accept constructive criticism. At times You may have some challenges at your place of employment . as well. Dont forget UMBI is a school that will teach you how you should conduct yourself as an employer. Remember, that its not always the easiest and comfortable things that have an impact for growth as much. It is the uncomfortable and hard things that have an impact on your life for growth and success. At the end of the day it is all up to you. All of your experience and journey being a student at UMBI is to teach you a lesson. Do you want to pass the lesson or fail the lesson? UMBI motivated and encourage me to pass. For this reason, I will forever be grateful. UMBI blessed me to have a motive to move. Thanks for motivating me. Thanks for encouraging me to have courage. UMBI Is the best !

I am very grateful for the learning experience I received at this school, I was at my lowest point when I enrolled. The teachers and Mrs. Straw(the DIRECTOR) were awesome. I received an MA diploma in 2017! . This school helps you get your foot into the medical field, it is up to you how far you choose to soar after that!

I am really disappointed to read the poor ratings this school received. Attending this school changed my life for the better. I had been in retail for many years working an unimaginable schedule. I was pregnant and my marriage was falling apart all at the same time. I enrolled in UMBI in order to get a normal schedule and to have holidays and weekends off to spend with my son. The instructors were no nonsense. When it came to your uniform, proper technique in the lab, and doing your work, they didn't play. I appreciate the discipline because in the medical field, there is no room for error when you are putting information in people's medical records. You have no choice but to be accurate. I was hired on the site where I did my externship. The school made it mandatory that you take the practice registry exam before sitting for the real one. I'm glad I was prepared to take the real one and passed. Working as a medical assistant is how I take care of my son. Jobs are plentiful. I'm well trained. I can work at an Urgent Care, a clinic, the hospital etc. I have a good job now. (You will make over $11 an hour). Go to the right place and you can at least make $15/hr. It is entry level, but it will pay your bills and get you on your way. The medical field is now my life's work. I can always choose another program (LPN) if I want to move up, but my feet are in the door and my career outlook is promising. Without this school I would have stayed in a dead end career and working crazy hours and missing all the holidays. I had my son towards the end of the program and Mrs. Straws and the team were very encouraging to me and helped me succeed in finishing the program. They gave me the time I needed and let me pick up exactly where I left off. I cannot thank her enough. She definitely cares about her students.

UMBI has a great director and staff. I'm so honored to have been introduced to the medical field and obtained a certification as a medical assistant. It's amazing how you can take 8 months of your life to change your salary to create a better life for yourself and family. No school is prefect but at the end of the day we all kept each other motivated and remembered what common GOAL we all had and that was to walk across that stage!!! I could never thank Ms.Straws enough for giving me that extra push and always having time for me as a student! Yes you have to be on time and study lol... But that's any school. I would recommend this school to anyone looking care for people in health care industry.

I am a current student of 2018, enrolled in the dental assisting program. The WIOA paid for me to receive 10 months of in class instructional training. The medical assistant instructor quit and my class was forced to be without our instructor for an 1/4 of the class so she could instruct another class. And when my class complained about this treatment we were threatened with suspension. No one in the class can quit because our time will be wasted and no money returned.

I graduated from UMBI in 2016 as a medical Assistant, I’ve had nothing but an amazing experience I’m just now getting around to taking my certification test and Mrs.Straws has done everything in her power to help me. People say you don’t get job opportunities thats a lie they help you get a internship that does not guarantee the facility will hire you.You must prove yourself to the facility. As for others who judge Mrs.Straws as snotty as long you abide by rules and do what’s asked of you then there’s no problem. If you don’t follow the guidelines of course she’s going to speak with you and the reason why is because she wants to see you SUCCEED not because shes being mean. I took my certification and passed. Thank you Mrs.Straws

This school is horrible! Do not go here, I repeat do not do it. The director/owner of the school Mrs. Straws is a disrespectful person. Firstly the price to go here should be robbery, 14000 is to much for the services they offer. Second, Mrs. Straws think she can talk/ treat you any kind of way because she's the owner. Not only is she the owner, but she's one of the teachers as well. A horrible teacher at that! She talks down on people and belittles them. Sge half teach the material and just expect you to know it. I was there for a month and a half and watched her class go from 8 students to 3. Her school has a high drop out rate because she's rude and big headed. She call people hood and ratchet all the time when she's the ratchet one arguing with students over a little nothing. She tells you not to bring the drama but she's full of it. She picks at you until you can't take it anymore. I got kicked out because I went back to put my name on my test after she took it up, how pity is that! Just don't do it, it's not worth the time, stress, or money. Mr. Johnson, the admissions rep is a liar that will tell you anything to get you in the door because their students are dropping like flys. I will never recommended this school to anyone!!!
