Absolutely love camping here.
We just did our second trip in 2 years and once again had a wonderful experience. The bathrooms are well kept as well.

I tent camped for three nights towards the middle to end of May of 2022. I heard there were supposed to be a lot of bears, but I did not see one at all, which I was actually bummed out about. My camp neighbor saw one earlier in the morning before I arrived for the first night. There's tons of wildlife! There's also a trail that goes all around the campgrounds and part of it leads straight out to the lake. Bathrooms are nice and well kept (just make sure to bring your own soap and towel), and there is someone patrolling the grounds every hour or so. Fire pits are very large and have a grill you can put on it if you want to smoke something, and they have charcoal grills if you prefer that. It's also not far from the nearest market and about 10 minutes from Tahoe City if you need anything more. I only gave it a 4 because the sites could stand to be more private, and the roads/parking spaces are a tad confusing if you've never been there before. Overall, it's a lovely campsite and I would definitely visit again.

We have stayed at Sugar Pine Point at four different sites. We enjoyed them all. We like the third loop (furthest from the road) best. The sites tend to be more separated than loop 2 and loop 1 is more group camping.
The restrooms are what you would expect at a state campground and they were always clean and operating. The shower facility was also good. Bears are VERY active here, so use your bear box any time you are not preparing or consuming food. Keep tolieties and any fragrant items in the bear box as well. We saw multiple bears and they ripped through our neighbors dinning tent to get a dirty cooking tool left out by mistake. Bears have to consume a vast amount of calories daily and human food is a great source so bears are very resourceful at getting it. We learned our lesson a few years ago when we accidentally left a car door open and found one all the way in the back cargo area eating power bars. Funny to laugh now, but take them seriously.

This is such a great campground! It is first come first serve. If you need a spot, come in the morning when they open up to get yourself on a wait list. Clean restrooms!! Plus they have a nice trail on the campground. Expect to run into bears on the trail cause we did? and they come to the campground looking for food pretty much every night.

The surrounding area next to the lake is amazing, but the campground itself it’s just ok. There’s plenty of space for the tents / RVs but the facilities are average (good showers but not so good bathrooms and no water disposal).

Very content with this site!:) decent sharing from other campers between sites.

The bathroom stalls were extremely narrow, not the cleanest, and the thinnest toilet paper that was hard to get out— that would be my only complaint…

And yes, we did see a bear there! Lock up all your food out of your car and in the bear locker. 🙂 would definitely go there again:)

Very nice level sites spread out well in a beautiful pine Forest. Bathrooms were ok and there are trails running right through the camp. Good spot!
