I have never cared enough to write a negative review in my life but I felt compelled to with the horrible experience I had with Shaw & Associates. Our initial appointment took all of maybe 10 minutes with Susan. I had followed up with her regarding our file via email and multiple phone calls with no response. Every time I called into the office and spoke with the receptionist she was busy. Months go by and here it is the Friday before 4/18/22 when taxes are due and we get a call to come in and sign our tax docs. Shocked that we are just now hearing anything about our file we head over to the office and we’re rushed to sign docs with the receptionist. I start asking questions about the file and obviously Susan is too busy to speak with us so we sign and walk out. As I review our file I notice missing information and ask for an Amendment which is a painful slow process and at the end we’re told we’re going to get a portion back after all. My thought is how this all could have been avoided with simple communication from the start. I follow up a few more times on the amended return and I’m finally directed to an IRS website where I find the amended return was processed months prior to and that we actually OWE and now there are late fees and interest added on. I’ve never experienced such negligence and now wish I would have done more research before stepping foot into that place.

My husband and I have been with David Shaw since he was preparing taxes by hand! Ok, so maybe not that long but well over 20 years. The Upholstery Hut was well taken care of through the years as we navigated the good years and challenged years. As we closed the business and Lynn retired it could not have been done without Shaw and Associates team. We cannot praise Dave and Susan more for all that they do for us. They both listen, advise, and always do a miraculous job. I cannot imagine trusting any other firm to prepare our taxes and guide our retirement funds better! I dropped my taxes off Oct.17 2022 and called once every 2 weeks as they instructed me to call back in two weeks. I was very kind and patient and they kept lying to me saying they are half way done with my taxes and to called back in 2 weeks. I finally picked up my paperwork that I dropped off with them January 17 2023! They never even started my taxes they just kept lying and dragging me out. I will now have to pay the IRS late fees for this. It’s unbelievable how bad this place will treat a customer!
