I came here after looking for EMDR therapists on Psychology Today, hoping for a holistic and transformative experience. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. From the moment I arrived, I had high hopes, but it quickly became clear that this place didn't live up to its promises.
I was specifically seeking a holistic approach, which was one of the main reasons I chose this facility. However, despite the advertising, there was no mention or offering of anything remotely "holistic" - no Reiki, no alternative treatments, nothing that would make the experience feel well-rounded or integrative.
Instead, I was paired with what seemed to be the youngest and least experienced therapist in the practice. While she was polite, it was obvious that she lacked the expertise I was hoping for.
Her approach to EMDR therapy was frankly underwhelming. The session felt more like a casual conversation than a structured therapeutic experience. I went in with the expectation of receiving meaningful support, but it felt like a waste of both my time and insurance benefits. I can't help but wonder if the fact that I was using insurance as payment had anything to do with the lack of quality or attention to my needs
In the end, l left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. I didn't receive the professional, holistic EMDR therapy I was seeking, and it was a complete waste of resources. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuine therapeutic experience.
I’d like to add I came here at a time when I was grieving the loss of a close loved one, and I was truly seeking support and empathy. Unfortunately, that's something I didn't find here. The whole experience felt incredibly impersonal. There was a distinct lack of compassion, and it seemed like the primary goal was just to bill my insurance and get me in and out as quickly as possible, rather than providing the care I was desperately seeking. My therapist, Sydney Valdez, may have been polite, but I didn't feel like she truly understood or connected with my situation. It felt more like a transaction than a therapeutic experience, and I left feeling even more isolated than when I came in.
