I’ve dealt with more than a couple rehab over the years , for friends and family members. One thing to remember is that it is a business, they need to make money to exist. They all tell you everything you want to hear, but only a few truly deliver the services necessary for the wellness of your loved ones. Rockdale is not one of them. My son was sober for over a year when he went there. He was serving time for things he did while high. The courts gave him the option of a rehab for a year. On his first day , he lied to them in an attempt to get prescribed Xanax and Adderall. He said he was getting these in jail and wanted to continue. I received a phone call about whether or not he was taking these drugs. They were extremely upset and threatening about how they were going to leave him at the hospital and not going to deal with this, even after he admitted to lying and I confirmed this was not true. For people that deal with the courts as they claimed they should have known he wouldn’t get those drugs in jail. A drug addict lied to try to get drugs, not too surprising. I understand that they can’t deal with a detox , but they were so angry and insisted on making the threat of kicking him out to me, even after confirming the lie, very unprofessional. My son was given an ankle monitor which they seemed to have no problem with initially. When we dropped him off, others in the house said they’re not going to like that. And they’re attitude towards the extra work of reporting seemed to reflect that statement. They take these guys to three aa meetings a day, which seems redundant. A good rehab should have more in house treatment, and deal with mental and physical well being. They were bragging that he was going to gain weight. A healthy lifestyle is is important for healing the mind. There were weights in the back which my son tried to use and was chastised for making noise, outside. The rules of the house were not enforced consistently which lead to confusion about what was ok and what was not. My son was staying up watching television past the curfew hour, which others had done. I’m sure he took advantage, probably more than the others. They enforced the curfew on the television and the Wi-Fi strictly and told everyone it was his fault, even though he was told privately they were planning on doing it anyway. No one would speak to him , he was openly threatened. How is this good for anybody? No amount of apology was accepted. He was written up for things others did as well . When he was kicked out he was reading a book inside , early in the morning. They’re not supposed to be in the house between certain times. It was freezing outside, literally, and the day before everyone was allowed to be inside. Without notification an angry house manager who had already had it out for him, came up and told him to pack his things. He was crying and they told him if he was going to be belligerent they would call the police. This was on exactly the last day before we would have to pay them again. There is much more but this post is long enough. This is not a good rehab, they’re unprofessional, prejudiced, and not concerned with truly helping these men. Do diligent research when choosing a rehab , ask a lot of questions, and avoid this place.
