I took this course at Riverside and I think this place is a great with amazing student service but instructors should be screened better for this job. My assigned instructor, Imelda Perez, was not very knowledgeable and provided little to no experience to the classroom. Without a doubt she is a good phlebotomist who can poke patients majority of the time, but her technique and etiquette may cause discomfort for patients, such as her method of putting on a tourniquet. I made up a few hours with Mrs. A, an evening instructor, who has taught me more in an hour than Perez had ever done in the 40 hour didactic portion. We were taught how to find the vein of least discomfort and how to tie the tourniquet correctly without hurting the patient when there is a needle inside of them. Again, I highly recommend this course and I would take it all again, just without Imelda Perez.

Ms.A is an exceptional teacher and an amazing person in general her kindness enthusiasm and support go above and beyond in helping each student not just complete and understand the course but feel encouraged and supported throughout the whole experience. Her positive nature and encouraging personality gave us the confidence to complete the practical part of the didactic course and I feel that was crucial to find the courage to draw blood on our classmates confidently . I feel lucky to have gotten her as my instructor!!! Thank you Ms. A!!

Instructor Imelda Peres was so amazing. I would highly recommend her to anyone I know. Thank you for a great class She is truly caring about students and passionate about what she does, and she was so incredibly helpful.

Ms A is the best teacher. I love this program so much. I would recommend it. The thing about it too is that you are a student for life. I had to retake the course because I needed a refresher and I didn't have to pay extra for anything. Student services were quick to re-enroll me in any class and lab. I would take this program if I were you and you were looking for one.
