I was at my wit's end with my strong bull mastiff. He was aggressive towards other dogs, barked incessantly at anything passing our house (dogs, Amazon drivers, you name it!), pulled like a freight train on the leash, and vet visits were a nightmare. Honestly, I was starting to dread taking him anywhere. Then we found Laura, and she completely transformed our lives!

First off, Laura trains the owner on how to train the dog, which is invaluable. She equipped me with the tools and understanding to effectively communicate with my dog. She came to my home for all our sessions, which was incredibly convenient and allowed us to work in the environment where the problem behaviors occurred. Laura was also very flexible with scheduling, making it easy to fit training into my busy life.

Specifically, Laura helped me condition my dog to not be aggressive towards other dogs. After just a few short lessons, I can now walk him calmly next to other dogs, and vet visits are no longer a source of anxiety. He also no longer barks uncontrollably at every little thing outside our window or goes into a frenzy when the Amazon driver drops off a package. Perhaps the most dramatic change is how he now walks calmly beside me, slightly behind, instead of pulling on the leash.

Laura's secret weapon, besides her expertise and personalized approach, was the use of an E-collar. I was hesitant at first, but Laura explained how it works and put my fears to rest. It's not about hurting the dog; it's about providing clear and consistent communication, helping to reset an anxious or aggressive dog into a relaxed and calm state. The E-collar, combined with the "homework" Laura assigned, was a game changer!

Thanks to Laura and Pet Peeves, I now have a well-behaved and happy dog. I can confidently take him anywhere, and our bond has grown stronger than ever. Our goldendoodle Jojo had some bad habits with leash pulling, counter surfing, barking and jumping up on people. I had tried to train her in the past and positive rewards/treats as my only tool just was not working. Laura helped me to establish boundaries and hold her accountable when needed. I think Jojo believed she was in charge in the past and now she looks to me as her leader. Her behavior has dramatically improved. Laura is an absolute gem! We cannot thank Laura enough- prior to starting training, Russell would jump on my partner and I, place paws on the counter top, nibble/play bite, and pull during walks. Just from Russell’s FIRST private training out of six, we were able to eliminate a majority of Russell’s problematic behaviors with Laura’s expertise and guidance in using verbal command, body language, leash work, and many many more! Fast forward to today, Russell is a joy to bring on family trips, daily walks around the neighborhood, and most importantly Russell knows his place command when guests and company are over our house. I can’t say enough good things about Laura and Pet Peeves Training! My partner and I decided to reach out to Laura when it had gotten to the point where we no longer felt safe walking our dog. Our dog had developed reactive behaviors and would resort to growling, lunging, and nipping at us whenever she saw another dog. There were also issues at home including barking, biting furniture for attention, and begging for food to the point where we couldn’t enjoy a calm meal. After our first lesson with Laura, I breathed out a sigh of relief because I could tell she would be able to help. After only 6 lessons, I can enjoy walking our dog again! Laura quickly identified all of the ways that we had been reinforcing our dog’s unwanted behaviors, and after changing a few parts of our dog’s routine, walking gear, and lots of practice walking her correctly, I could see the change. Our dog had so much more confidence in us as leaders, and I have so much more confidence in her to behave appropriately. Laura is so knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about dogs, and is also an amazing trainer for both her canine and human clients. I can safely walk my dog again, but I also feel like I came out of the process as a better dog handler for life. We are so pleased with the results, and we can’t wait to continue lessons with Laura again to focus on some more advanced training or maybe a group class to continue learning and improving our dog’s life. Seriously, what are you waiting for? If you are looking for a great trainer, look no further. Make. The. Call. We adopted our dog (Truffle) about a year ago and he was calm for about two weeks. After that, he has been difficult. Sweet at times but at other times....really, really terrible. We've had other dogs but Ttuffle was like no other. So, enter Laura. Our dog had problems with chewing, jumping, barking, mouthing, attention seeking, pulling, reactivity, etc. You name it, we had it. But then, sometime he would just curl up next to me and somehow the world was right. Well, Laura gave me the tools to handle the behavior issues. He's not perfect yet but he's a whole lot better than the pre-Laura Era. From the moment Laura walked into our home, Truffle was barking and jumping on her. We had finished a 6 week obedience course at Petsmart and we still weren't able to control the jumping. Within 5 minutes, probably less, Laura had Truffle quiet and sitting at her feet. That was just the beginning.
They say pet trainer are really training the owners and I truly believe that. I realized the lack of respect that Truffle had for me. He loved me but knew he could get away with a lot more with me. A master manipulator! Much of what is published online did not work with what we were dealing with. With Laura's guidance and support much of what we were dealing with has been remedied. We recently adopted a large mixed breed puppy and turned to Laura for help setting him (and us!) up with some good habits. Pet Peeves trains the dog and the owner! My dog Duke was out of control and freaked out when ever he encountered another dog. It was miserable to take him anywhere there were other dogs. My son finally talked me into getting training and Laura taught my old dog new tricks. Also taught me that it is my responsibility to let Duke know I am in charge!
