Pax therapy group has been a great resource and referral for a family member who was struggling with substance abuse. From the onset of getting through to the intake team, getting onboarded, help with billing and insurance, and getting connected to the therapist who helped our family, I have only the most gratitude for how helpful, supportive, and kind this practice has been to us. Grateful and highly recommend this practice.

Timothy did a great job identifying who we were and what attention we each needed (my husband and I) I did not think I could get my husband to attend counseling but during our sessions he opened up and I was very happy. I feel like we ended with some great tools we could utilize ourselves when problem solving anything in our marriage. I highly recommend this counselor.

The therapist don’t follow up with you on how you’re doing, I went to 7 sessions and there was no plan, there was no “okay we’re going to try this type of therapy, and so on”. I asked too, multiple times I asked, so what is it we’re doing here to help me get back to myself? I asked if I could have more than 1 session a week until I felt I would be good with 1 a week. The therapist just act like a friend which is nice, but it’s definitely not worth the money to just talk about stuff and get basic advice. This is not what therapy should be and I don’t think most places operate like this. They don’t have a real psychiatrist or anyone with any type of degree where they can prescribe meds and they don’t refer you to anyone so if you need to go see a psychiatrist or anything related to therapy, you have to go somewhere new and start over. This is not the best place to go to if you need help with depression, anxiety or any type of disorder. They will not diagnose you and they will not make any type of plan to get you back on track. I kept asking in a serious manner, what are we doing to help me get back to myself? I’d say it in a joking matter also like “so how long until you fix me lol” and the therapist just laughs and says it’s a long process and you have to put in the work. I received like 3 digital pamphlets about how to deal with certain things and that’s it. Not worth it, go somewhere they can do everything and professionally refer you to drs as needed etc.

Humberto is awesome! Highly recommend him for asking the right questions and creating clarity. Kristin is also wonderful and responds fast to appointment/scheduling questions. The overall group was exactly what I needed and they handle all the insurance/personal info on a user friendly website. One of the best in the East LA County area.
