The honesty and integrity of members at Movement are beyond disappointing. Just yesterday, someone hit my car, leaving deep scratches (4x6 inches) through all paint layers. A week ago, a friend forgot his brand-new Petzl Neox belay device, which was never returned—just stolen. About a year ago, someone banged a dent into my car door. In all three cases, Movement's response simply is "good luck" and year after year they refuse to install cameras.

Parking is already a nightmare, but the lack of responsibility and inability to improve make it even worse. Given how often these incidents happen and the fact that most other Movement gyms have cameras, I can't understand why this location is being so cheap. The route setting and climbing are average for a gym, but the bad parking situation and low-integrity culture of too many members make for an overall dissatisfying experience.

The gym is great. The parking is a joke. There are only about 50 available parking spots for a gym that holds hundreds. Makes no sense whatsoever and is a very common problem among members. Be warned.

The good: the routes were good. I like that they don't require people to own their own belay devices. I did enjoy climbing. Lots of space and many options based on skill level.

The bad: If the intake form is going to ask for pronouns, staff need to use them at least when giving the belay tests. Asking for pronouns and then not using them is very performative. Also, staff need to be trained to at least use gender neutral language when approaching people on the gym floor. Using he/him pronouns for someone who is wearing a sports bra as a top is ridiculous. There is a sign up on the bulletin board saying that The Movement supports LGBTQ+ people. Putting up a sign saying you support trans people, means you should actually try to support them.

I’ve been going to both Denver and Boulder movements since they each opened.

I love the amount of classes they have aside from climbing, as well as all the stand fitness equipment you might need.

The staff is usually friendly and helpful.

Everything is pretty clean, besides the occasional blood splatter up high on a wall. 😂

The routes are usually pretty good too and they change them out pretty frequently.

My only complaint is the price, but I understand supply and demand. I wish it was a little more affordable.

Overcrowded, parking is generally terrible and they shut down the entire gym, even the weight room, during competitions.

There are better options in Boulder

Compared to other movement gyms this location is dirty with older unclean restrooms and equipment. Lots of worn down finishes and carpets. Gym is also closed for last minute private employee events on a regular basis.

How does this happen in Boulder? A town that has so much pride, but they accept corporate America like no other. Another rebranded corporation to appear as a local gym. Overpriced and taking advantage of climbers. Corporate takeover is ruining America. Go to a different gym that is actually local, stop sending your money out of state…

This was my first home gym and I loved it. The staff was super kind and helpful when I first learned to climb, the member benefits are great, the facilities are clean and professionally maintained, I highly suggest giving it a go!

The route setting team does a great job every week. The new routes are consistently challenging and fun!
