I got two sessions with a therapist before letting her know I'd be travelling for two weeks. I got dropped for cancelling my scheduled appointments with her due to this travel, an action I had told her I would be performing, without warning or ceremony. I was not informed of the decision to stop working with me or being handed over to another therapist, who has not responded to my questions.

My experience at Liberation Institute has been wonderful, and I really appreciate their ability to bring financially-accessible therapy to people who need it! My therapist is truly incredible and I feel really grateful to have found this organization.

Took me multiple emails to finally schedule a session & they still didn’t meet my preferences for the kind of therapist I was looking for. Afterwards they dropped me without giving me any alternatives. The only reasons I am giving two stars instead of one is because the therapist I met with for 3 sessions was very kind.

There is a chance the liberation institute will refer the people who know someone who works there to other clinics due to liability issues. That happened to me when I in crisis and desperatly trying to seek help. I wish the liberation insitute would have offered over the phone services to me as an option instead of the referral. I felt abandoned in the process; as a queer working class individual living in San Francisco managing my time to even get into the consultation was quite stressful, as most of my time had to be spent bringing in income for my bills, rent, living expenses. I also know that a full staff not having capacity to buffer away from interpersonal friendships is unprofessional.
