My husband and I were looking for basic obedience training for our 7 month old German Shepherd mix Nina. From the very beginning, our experience with Juan and Sarah at JPK9 Academy has lived up to the overwhelmingly positive reviews and testimonials we read online. We sent Nina to 21 day board and train with Juan to help correct behaviors like jumping and digging, as well as frustrating issues with reactiveness to other animals and recall, which was a big safety concern for us. Juan has equipped us with the tools and knowedge to maintain Nina's conditioning. We were blown away by the night and day transformation in her behavior. She has been home from board and train for about two months now, and every day we see her growth and improvement with daily training. Weekly group classes offer invaluable exposure to other dogs in a safe and controlled environment. Juan checks in often about Nina's progress and helps us to troubleshoot and quickly resolve any problem behaviors that arise with our teenage dog. Juan has undoubtedly brought out the very best in Nina. After her board and train experience, Nina is our dream dog. She is calm, aloof to other animals (including many critters she hasn't encountered before), obedient, and well-mannered. You can not put a price on the relationship that Juan will help you build with your dog.

When I first took Westley home from the rescue, he quickly became fearful and reactive toward new dogs and humans. It got so bad that I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to take him out of the house except in emergencies since he would even react while we were in the car driving by other dogs. I called Juan for help, and he recommended a set of individual sessions and we got to come to group classes as well. Even when I didn’t trust my dog, Juan did and he taught me how to communicate with Westley so we could trust each other better. My goals were to be able to take Westley traveling and hiking with me, and introduce him to new people and dogs without stress. This weekend Westley went on his first overnight backpacking trip and was sweet and attentive. He befriended all 6 new people on the trip and walked past large school groups and many dogs without issue. His walking was so good that I clipped his leash to my pack and barely had to hold it at all. Westley has also been able to go on weekend trips with me, to coffee shops and breweries and wine tasting tours. I’m also so grateful that I can continue coming to group class to keep Westley’s skills up, and that I can book more sessions as our goals get bigger. Thanks to Juan, my dog gets to live the life he deserves!

Juan has been fantastic with my miniature schnauzer, Leon. His training is tailored, effective, and delivered with both patience and expertise. Leon has shown great improvement in behavior, and Juan’s clear guidance has also helped me feel confident in continuing the training at home. My husband and I adopted our puppy Macie last September from Front Street Animal shelter. We quickly realized that she had dog aggression while being on a leash.

We love to go camping and take her for walks and that behavior was not something we could handle on our own. We were referred to Juan by a coworker and signing up for his private lessons were the best thing we could have ever done.

Juan is very thorough in explaining the process and the types of techniques he uses and is great with both the dogs and humans. ?

We saw immediate results after the first lesson and now after 3 months of training Macie is doing great. We highly recommend Juan and his family. They are truly amazing!

I was planning on posting a video but will do so later. We are so grateful and have said multiple times our Cane Corso pup is a different dog! We haven’t had him even 90 days and training with JPK9Academy has been amazing! Highly recommend. Our pup was 6 months when we started training, we’ve completed individual training and will start group soon. We are constantly receiving comments on what a good dog we have! Juan is hands down the most knowledgeable, personable, and patient dog trainer.

I adopted Ping in January, and she is the first dog I have ever really had to train. I was struggling with basic obedience and off-leash recall, and frankly just didn't know where to start to be successful in training.

Juan did a superb job creating a tailored training plan for us and gave very clear instructions on what we needed to work on every week. He was very patient and charismatic, and he answered all my questions (there were a lot!) very thoroughly. I could see progress every week as Ping listened more intently and know how to better reward and correct her behaviors.

I'm happy to report that not even half a year after working with him, Ping is practically a different dog! She's so much more confident, and we can take her anywhere with full trust that she will behave and listen to us on a dime.

We are beyond grateful for Juan's services and would recommend him to anyone looking to strengthen their relationship with their dogs. Thank you for everything!
