Trish has consistently been our trusted source of expertise, guidance - and quite frankly sanity - when it comes to effectively training and raising a puppy. (And if we’re being realllly honest here - effectively training puppy parents.)

We worked with Trish ~14 years ago with our chocolate lab pup, when she was still running Adobe dog training. The lessons we learned from her in the IRL classes, as well as the amazing nuggets of wisdom in her book (‘… go get the biggest newspaper, roll it up and hit yourself…’ - ok, I’m paraphrasing here, but still), have stuck with us over the years. People always commented on the good boi we had, how well he was trained and behaved, socialized, etc.. We were proud, and owed it all to Trish.

Fast forward to today (late 2024) with a Greater Swiss Mountain pup, we knew we were in need of a refresher. We pulled out the trusted ‘Choosing and Raising a Puppy’ book, and although we were following most of the guidance, we still were struggling in a few areas that we weren’t feeling confident we were doing ‘the right thing’. Lucky for us, we knew exactly who to reach out to get some quick corrective direction to ensure we were setting our pups (and ourselves) up for success. Trish quickly honed in on the areas of opportunity, and provided specific, actionable tasks to help tackle concerns. Not only was it a weight lifted to have clear guidance, but within an hour, we saw a marked difference… it was brilliant!

We’re continuing to be consistent in our work, and with Trish’s expertise, we feel confident we’re on the right track to have another equally awesome (and totally different) good boi.

Thank you BEYOND, Trish - if only all doggo parents were so lucky to benefit from your knowledge and passion!

We highly recommend Trish Wamsat from Home Schooled Hounds! After interviewing several trainers, we chose Trish for her direct feedback and comprehensive approach. She offered a consultation and a zoom meet and greet with our dog Roxy, who had leash aggression issues. Trish provided everything from unlimited 1:1 training, group sessions, and community walks. She also helped us find and train our second dog, Charlie, during Covid, ensuring he was well socialized. Trish continues to support us years later with any questions we have. If you have any concerns with your dog, reach out to Trish. It will be worthwhile for years to come!!!

It's only part training the dog...the rest is training the owner! Trish is very patient with me and Mocha and her knowledge of behavior is vast. She is the second trainer for Mocha, the first had different methods that didn't work for me. With Trish, there is mutual respect and bonding - there is never training by pain.

Summary: Fantastic trainer, would highly recommend for anyone. With her help, my reactive dog overcame unwanted behaviors (jumping and begging) and multiple anxieties. I've worked with Trish as needed for 3 years.

After my dog had been kicked out of multiple group classes and denied by 2 behavioral specialists I was relieved to find Trish. From the start she was very professional. During the initial call she set clear expectations for the experience and what services were offered.

Initially, my dog could not walk on streets with cars driving. I was constantly in fear she would get off leash. Trish started us out with small walks 1:1 where she demonstrated the skills and structure I needed to implement. She was supportive through the process and always available for questions.

Once I was comfortable, we attended group classes where my dog could play games safely with others and go on group walks in town. Previously unable to attend meals out with my dog, I could now go to dinner with friends and not worry.

As COVID started Trish creatively offered online classes for multiple topics. My high-energy dog and I were able practice AKC tricks in a calm and familiar environment.

Whenever I had concerns or new issues arose, Trish was there with creative solutions. She gave me the confidence and tools to handle a strong, smart, and high-energy 3 year old cattle dog.

I would highly recommend Trish for anyone facing a dog with behavioral needs or to help one find their next best friend.

Trish is an amazing dog and owner trainer. I say owner as a big part of training is re-training the owner as mindset to better understand their dog. Trish took the time to fully understand what our needs are and customizes each step of our training. My pup and I have learned so much. There are many classes and opportunities and she is also available to answer and work with you anytime.

Trish has been our family dog trainer for the past twelve years since we got our Labrador, Lucy. Lucy is a joy and we can bring her out without worrying about her behavior. We recently got her a young companion dog at the shelter. He was very fearful initially, but making good progress with the exception of barking at new people in the house. We asked Trish for assistance and she was able to improve Calvin's excessive barking significantly after only 15 minutes of training. I would recommend her to both new, and experienced dog owners.

Let me start by saying that Trish. Changes. People's. Lives. We hired Trish to help us work with and understand what was going on with our dog years ago - like pre pandemic years ago - stay with me - this matters...Trish was recommended to us from another trainer who took about 30 seconds to diagnose our dog who had been acting like a crazy beast at the end of a rope and say, "He's not aggressive, he's leash reactive!". THEN she gave us Trish's number. Trish started working with us immediately from across the country. We would record ourselves and the dog and send her clips, she would send us clips back. When Trish finally got here, she worked her magic on our boy - and us. Our dog is a street punk stray with one eye - he's got Issues. I had issues from past issues. Trish took us on walks, around our home, to the park with crazy kids and dogs running around, to her awesome set up with dog obstacle courses. She worked and worked and worked with us. We now have a weird dog that can travel with us and he has pals. He's never going to be a labrador but we don't want that. We have a good dog. And now, years later, when things pop up, all I do is text Trish and like a fairy godmother she comes up with solutions. Trish NEVER stops trying. When one thing doesn't work, she figures out something else until she finds what works. And when you hire her and buy into the lifetime package, she means it. Trish isn't just a trainer, she's an investment in the health and happiness of your dog for life. Trish gets 14/10. IYKYK

I asked my peer at Google for a dog trainer that didn't follow the outdated 'pack mentality' training methodology and she highly recommended Trish, who understands that dogs are domesticated animals, unlike wolves and focuses on praise and silent body language training. This was an instant philosophical match for me. I brought her my adopted terrier/schnauzer/cattle dog mutt who suffered from trauma for 6+ yrs and has been defensive of any dog she saw and would get triggered even with any jingling of a dog collar.

My first session, she immediately taught me the 'tuck and pull' maneuver which helped communicate to my dog that 'I have her back against any dog' which instantly made her focus for the first time on me and the treats I had to offer her. In a matter of 30 minutes my dog was walking side by side the other student dogs that also attend these group based trainings.

My jaw dropped and I felt so relieved to see such immense progress in such little time. I have been attending Trish's "Reset" training program for dogs who are friendly to humans but not other dogs. The class was made up of other pet parents, and as a community we ran different excercises such as interchanging treats so dogs look forward to approaching other dogs, etc. Every dog has their own unique needs and she customizes the training tips for each pet while running these sessions in public places to simulate real world distractions. I love her passion, her work ethic, and the safe space she creates for all of us to grow with our pets.

I want to continue to support her amazing work by sharing this review, hopefully inspiring others who may be encountering the same doggy needs. Cheers!
