The schedule states that the cafeteria opens at 0600. So if you show up at 0620, don't worry.... They're aren't open yet. But you'll have plenty of time to eat as they use powdered eggs. I'm aware of the prison next door, but there's no reason to be eating the same crap. The food has consistently gone down hill. Just horrible. And the coffee is trash.

If I could give 0, I would. If you’re considering the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, think twice. My partner went through the second academy in January and was treated like absolute garbage. They preach about being a “family,” but in reality, you’re on your own the moment you step through the door. Several trainees, including my partner, were injured during PT and were basically told to suck it up—no real care or support, just push through or get left behind.

The training structure is ridiculous. Running 20 miles a day at full sprint for a DNR position? What’s the logic in that? Meanwhile, if you’re book smart, you can skate by with no real hands-on preparation. There’s no proper training to get a POST certification, and if you want anything more, you have to physically destroy yourself for 15 weeks. It’s a joke—one that ruins careers before they even begin.

They claim it’s all a “mind game,” but it’s really just a cycle of manipulation, deception, and exhausting trainees past their limits. Waking people up at 3 AM for a run, telling them they’re done, only to drag them out again at midnight? That’s not training; that’s deliberate mental and physical destruction. Watching a class go from 25 recruits to just 7 is insane. And instead of addressing retention issues, they kick out good people who actually want to serve.

They call it a "family-based unit," but in reality, it's a toxic, manipulative mess. If you're willing to cripple yourself for 15 weeks just to be treated like you’re disposable, then go ahead. But if you value your career, your body, and your sanity, find another path.

Had my annual fire extinguishers training / CEU at the Georgia Public Training Safety Center again this year. Other than the cold room, which I think is how they keep us awake it is a great facility. Tye topic isn’t so exciting, but the room is great for our number of people that need training and the lunch room is in the next room. Lunch just happened to be included today too, bonus!!

Finally spent some time at GPSTC for career training! The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional both in the chow hall and throughout the building. I look forward to returning soon.

The facility sure was impressive but the barracks were underwhelming, especially for the price. If you are coming here for a few days and are staying on site be prepared to spend at least $200/week, which will include a private room and a meal plan. No one in my organization informed me of any of these things so I was a little shocked when I arrived. But the course I attended was good and the instructors I met were amazing and the food was pretty decent (basic southern comfort food and traditional American cuisine). The compound is pretty nice too but could use an update. Other than that it was all right.

Took Homicide Investigations with Chris Harrell and Greg Johns. Not for nothing, keep Greg as long as you can. A bookworm of information through years of experience. Also my first class with Chris. Outstanding instructor who genuinely seems to care about the future of this career path we've chosen.

Came here for BJOTC, loved my experience. The barracks were comfortable and clean, I had no issues during my 2 week stay.
Looking forward to attending mandate and other courses here in the future.

Enjoy learning....but feel like a go through a crash course for Nascar when going through Atlanta to get there. Never boring folks!!!
