The room was nice but could have been cleaned up a little better. Random hairs still in the bathroom area upon arrival. Reviews I read suggested the shower was nice but hard to figure out... I'd have to agree. Overall a nice stay despite minor inconveniences.

Positive: The front desk guy at my check in on Nov27th at 6pm was the friendliest hotel employee. He was helpful at check in and when I went back down to the lobby for additional information. Also we enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet with reservation. Negative: N/a

The room and location were nice, i will give them that. They would not allow me to check in early but allowed others in our group to check in early. Their credit card machine has been down for over 2 weeks for some reason, so we had to leave our information on a piece of paper, i'm not sure how secure that is. Also, they lied about the pool, not working to keep our children out of it, but then informed us about adult swim, solidifying that they had lied about the pool being broken. The staff were almost all rude, which I can imagine their credit card machine being down being frustrating, but still, the staff was incredibly rude, all of them, not just one person. On the day of check-in, everyone's room was basically printed on an Excel spreadsheet, and they were not able to give us a receipt of any kind, saying to call them in a couple weeks. So basically, they have a paper with our credit card information on it and a free range to charge whatever with no receipt, and it leaves to question, what are they going to do with those papers once they charge our cards? It just feels sketchy from one of the largest hotels in ames.

Room was incredible. Bathroom was nice and new, and really clean. Would definitely stay here again. Attendant at check in was awesome. Attendant at check out seemed too busy to care about her computer than my stay. Won't let that ruin my stay though.

Overall not a bad place, pretty steep rates for the location. The room was nice but the pillows were very uncomfortable, also the heater is very loud when it kicks on. As shown in the included photo this nice pile of dirty sheets sat in front of my door for over a day

Everything during my stay was fantastic! From service to room cleanliness. Michael was working the front desk when I checked in at night and he was very helpful and kind. Would highly recommend and stay there again if presented the opportunity

My husband and I stayed at the Gateway when in town for a family funeral. We loved our king bed room and didn't have any problems with the sliding bathroom door. Consumables in the bathroom are in mounted pump bottles. We stayed four nights and didn't have any maid service, but we were able to get fresh towels from the front desk. Also available at the front desk were cold bottles of water for $1.75 vs $4.00 in the room. They also had shelf stable foods, snacks, and sweets available for purchase. |While the rooms have been updated, unfortunately the pool and whirlpool tub have not. There's also a sauna and gym room which we didn't use. |We did have lunch in the restaurant and it was tasty and reasonably priced. They have a breakfast buffet also.|The hotel is very convenient to the football stadium area of the ISU campus.|We will likely stay here again soon.
