The air raid siren in the middle of the night and early morning hours make it hard to get any rest. With technology available to everyone, this antiquated form of communication shouldn’t continue. I do support the men and women who sacrifice for the community. My issue is not at all about them, to them I say THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! It’s just the siren that disturbs everyday life. We can do better with the tools we all have. Does anyone else agree?

Source of the worst type of ongoing widespread pollution that you could inflict on a surrounding population. This facility features an amazingly loud and disruptive air-raid siren that can go off at any time of the day or night. Supporters of this operation do not live near it and boast of it's historical utility, but to allow this to continue equals the opposite of compassion. The time has long past for any need of this behavior - it is completely unnecessary except to keep people away. Close it down - allow people in the area to live in peace and perhaps return to the abandoned properties in the area. Otherwise, if there ever actually was a legitimate use that warrants this kind of wide-area disturbance, it would probably be dismissed as another routine abuse.

Thankfully, I have not had to interact with these guys for fire or medical emergency. I have been there for a fund raiser and to get burn permits and they are all professional and courteous. I am thankful to be less than 2 miles away. Also, I want to address the issue with the modal call siren. It is not only traditional to have the wail announcement, but necessary to keep it working in case it is needed so it will go off on a scheduled basis. Those complaining will be glad it is there when they need it.
