Thank you for the reminder. I also called and spoke with a scheduling coordinator when Matt was unresponsive. The schedule coordinator said, "48 hour cancellation is company policy. I do not have the authority to cancel or reschedule without charging the $200 fee. Contacting Matt directly would be the best course of action.

Had 3-4 appointments with Matt. The very first session Matt informed us that the 48 hour cancellation policy is enforced. However, he is understanding that life happens and gave us his cell in case something additional is needed. The following sessions were decent, difficult conversations, but he mediated well. However, upon “life happening” I text Matt directly detailing current issues. Never received a text reply and was charged $200 for missing appointment despite trying to reach him.
A business needs to make a profit to survive. However, $200 for 45 minutes is pretty steep. Matt never went the entire hour, he would routinely check his clock every 5 minutes, and cut the conversation short to schedule the next appointment. Which wasn’t subtle and didn’t sit well with me. Nonetheless, if he were forthcoming about the bad business practices from the start, “48 hour cancellation rule comes with no exceptions, I will give you my cell phone, but I will not respond.” I wouldn’t have cancelled the subsequent appointments. I would recommend looking elsewhere for couples counseling.

We've never had therapy b4, so hardly knew what to expect...but have found Mariah to be empathetic, and experienced in the area of our need.

*EDIT*:After one month and disputing the charge with my bank I did get my money back from foundations and a sincere apology from my former counselor. It’s just an absolute shame that this company that is supposed to assist in uplifting your mental health will try and snag $200 over an absurdly rigid 48 hr policy.

After ~8 sessions over the course of 7 months with my counselor, I thought we had a good relationship and built a decent rapport. I had never missed an appt or payment. However on March 6, I had to call admin to reschedule an appt for the following day March 7 to a later date of March 15 due to a timing emergency. I realized I was still charged the full $200 due to only giving them 30 hrs of notice rather than their preferred 48.

I gave as much notice as possible, the admin that rescheduled my appointment did not make me aware of the full charge I would take on, or give me any other options. Mind you I was not even cancelling my appointment, just rescheduling due to a timing emergency. Admin told me to talk to my counselor and there’s nothing they could do. My counselor told me it was foundations policy and there was nothing he could do. Someone is clearly not being completely forthcoming with the truth.

$200 is no small amount, but I stayed with foundations because I thought I was getting good service from someone I connected with. To be charged that much for a service not provided, and receive no care, concern or grace given my situation is incredibly disappointing. Now I am left trying to dispute the charge with my bank, looking for a new counselor to start over with completely, and my trust hindered.

I understand why policies are in place, but asked to be reviewed on an individual character case basis given the circumstances. It is clear that foundations counseling does not care about individual’s mental health so long as they are being paid.

Actually had a really good experience here with a therapist who helped me through a really dark season, but I couldn't afford to continue with therapy due to the high cost per session and because they don't work with insurance. I'm sorry to say that the only thing preventing me from continuing therapy was the cost. I would give the therapist herself five stars as she was excellent and compassionate, but I only gave 3 because I don't believe the cost per session is affordable for a lot of people.

My therapist, was amazing and really helped me out through a lot, I cannot praise him enough! That being said “Foundations” itself has some really terrible policies in place. 48hr cancelation policy is insane, even if an emergency comes up and you give them more than 24hr notice, if it’s not 48hrs they will still charge you full price. The most ridiculous policy is that their therapists cannot write Emotional Support Animal letters, even if your therapist thinks you need one. In Colorado an ESA letter is the only accepted form to move into a house with an ESA, and this policy makes it so my therapist cannot give me an ESA letter even though he would gladly write one. It’s like telling a doctor they aren’t allowed to write prescriptions.

So easy to get started and I am really grateful for my therapist. I feel like Kirsten really listens, relates, and gives me sound advice. I am looking forward to continuing services.
