I'm an American married to a Japanese lady and we live in Japan. My daughter (14) goes to the regular schools here, and her English was lagging a lot. We sent her on a 9 week homestay. I had lots of concerns before sending her, but the staff were great, the homestay family fabulous, and the school wonderful. My daughter loved almost everything (American food can be too heavy, and laundry detergent makes clothes smell!). She made friends with the buddy they got for her to help out at the school. The host family made her feel welcome, and even took her out for dinner on her birthday and got her a huge cake. We have see what the situation is next year, but we are seriously considering repeating the experience.

The edu-abroad supportive attitude was amazing and it helps my life in States.
However, one disadvantage is that my host family mainly speak Spanish.
Anyway, thanks for supporting me for one month!

They were very helpful and helped with any information needed. For a first trip to Japan, and international travel, I was able to be very relaxed with the help they provided. With the experience I would totally be willing to make another trip to Japan in the future!
Plus being able to meet with Japanese students learning how to speak English and meet students from the U.S. was pretty fun.
