We had Niki join our birth team late in the game, in third trimester. Although I was hoping for a natural birth I already knew my baby was breech and there was a good chance I would need to go the route of cesarean. She was helpful in discussing both options and how she could support us through either birth route. As first time parents we came with some anxiety and a lot of questions and her presence and reassurance was a huge part of what made my birth experience so positive. My son was born via cesarean birth and having Niki with us through that truly allowed us to enjoy the birth of our son knowing we were supported and without worry. So grateful she was able to be part of my son’s birth day!

We loved having Niki as a part of our team during our birth experience. She took the time to get to know us individually and as a couple in order to help us navigate the birth of our son. My partner and I worked with Nikki for the birth of our first child. We did a home birth and wanted to have the most comfortable and empowering experience possible for my partner. Nikki was an absolute champion. Our labor progressed quickly and having Nikki with my partner allowed me to set up the birth tub without leaving her alone. Nikki did an incredible job coaching my partner. She always seemed to know exactly what to say and how to physically support her. After I set up the birthing space, I joined Nikki in supporting my partner and we quickly fell into perfect sync. Thanks to Nikki, we kept our fears at bay and brought in the softest and strongest parts of ourselves to our birth.

Cannot express how thankful we are to have had Niki as our doula before, during, and after the birth of our beautiful daughter. We truly could not have gotten through labor without her support! Niki has been my doula for all three of my home births and it’s difficult to put into words how much she means to me. I absolutely love my husband (and appreciate his role at my births) and I’ve also loved each of my midwives and how much they’ve supported me throughout my births, however, if I could only choose one person to labor with me, I’d choose Niki without question. I consider myself pretty high maintenance when it comes to labor and Niki has always met my needs and then some. Through three very different labors, she was the constant voice guiding me through each contraction. She would speak my birth affirmations over me, encourage me, affirm me and help redirect my thoughts when I felt like I couldn’t keep going. I like to create a spiritual birth space and Niki always supported me in that — praying for me, reciting scripture and singing worship, which I greatly appreciated. I am also always very vocal about how much I need Niki’s presence during labor (as in, I don’t like her leave my side haha) and she has always respected that. I’ve experienced much different pains throughout each of my labors and Niki always had a suggestion for how to reduce the pain, whether it was a new position or a pain relief technique to try. When I needed physical support, she helped guide my husband on how to give me relief as I preferred his physical touch during labor. Following my third birth, I had a very serious complication which brought me an immense amount of physical pain, and while my husband held our thirty minute old baby, Niki laid next to me, held my hand and sang to me through my ear piercing screams. I didn’t know Niki personally before she was my doula but I immediately felt comfortable with her. She was, and always will be, a safe place and the calm in the storm of overwhelming pain and emotion. To say I deeply value her is truly an understatement. She is a necessary piece to my birth team and one I could never replace. I feel so fortunate to have connected with her when I did and to have had her by my side through the most difficult and most beautiful moments of my life.
