My CenCal got renewed in February. For some reason they wanted me to renew again in September . I turned in my paperwork a week before it was due. I found out from the PHARMACY that it was expired. Then I got a letter saying they needed proof of income like a paystub. I’m a stay at home mom so I don’t even have income . I’ve been calling every single day since the end of September and I always get hung up on after authenticating myself and I get a “due to high volume we can’t answer your call” this is ridiculous !

This place really does suck, it's sad that it's pretty much the only place to go to get help, and you really have to go in person, because you can never get through on the phone, case workers don't call you back or respond to voice mails or help you. EBT cards are always being compromised and I had $606 on my EBT, the day I got my benefits was the day someone hacked into my account and drained it completely. Can't get through ever on the phone, and my case worker never picks up or responds to my voicemails. This place really sucks without a doubt.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I have been having issues with my insurance for more than half a year and i have spent weeks on the phone with this place and have visited in person on numerous occasions. I live in a different county now and even applied on my own in a separate application and Santa Barbara refuses to assist me and release me so that I can receive health insurance in my new county. This negligence is unacceptable and I am extremely frustrated with this issue. Their phone number doesn't direct me to a caller and if it does it is because I have spent all day calling repeatedly just for the worker to tell me they can do nothing on their end. I have attempted to file multiple complaints but there is no option other than to leave a review here on Google. This again is unfortunate and I am still looking for ways to speak to supervisors and to possibly even demand some legal intervention because this has gone on for too long.

Horrible service , don’t be afraid to reach out to the state on them to file a grievance …… I reached out to the county and all they did was make excuses for my worker until I reached out to the county …. They were on their P’s and Q’s ….

As everyone else just said, there should be a zero star rating. The phone line is 100% useless, the recorded message ends your call with a message “there are no available agents please try again later”. No matter how many times you try, different times of the day, different days. It’s all the same. Also, the social workers do not check the documentation submitted through the online channels provided.
I am now on my way to the building, trying to talk to someone in person. I’ll update my review later, let’s see if I get better luck.

I must say! I had a great experience!! The Lady that helped me was very nice, friendly very helpful. Sure I had to wait in line for about 40 minutes, but no biggy cause I was on the phone for 45 minutes the day before. And adleast I got to talk with someone ? And get an immediate answer to my questions.!! I don't know if they are understaffed or overworked but, I've been there twice in the last couple of years and staff have always been pleasant very helpful and kind!!

As everyone already said, there is no phone number to contact your case worker. It’s a general automated line and you have to wait for 40+ minutes. There is no one I can talk to about my case on the phone or in-person. The woman at window 2 is so brazen. I get it-you’re dealing with poor people all day long, but you chose a job in social services. Can you act like you actually want to help the community? Come on now… I’m horrified at the way she talks to people. She’s like scolding us and making us feel like we’re doing something wrong. Santa Barbara County, do better please. This is not the person you want interacting with the public. So unprofessional. Thankfully there was someone else who nice at window 1 to help me set up my pin.
