Elizabeth is absolutely amazing! She doesn't just show you how to teach your dog tricks but teaches things about body language, consent, and puppy superpowers and how to use them to help your dog be the best friend you'll ever have. This is our 4th puppy in the last 20 years and we’ve done group classes with all of them. Calvert is the best training by far. The positive approach and training on specific issues is great. The group puppy classes are very helpful as the training is done with the distraction of having other puppies in the same room. The training space is a large room with plenty of separation between the puppies when you need it. Training handouts are clear and understandable, The communication with a weekly email is excellent. We will continue with Calvert through the next training levels.

After attending a beginner level group class with my dog I am now a BIG fan of Elizabeth at Calvert Dog Training! She understands adult learners and is able to convey massive amounts of useful information in multiple different ways, so that we can understand and implement positive reward-based training techniques with our beloved canine family members. While all attendees had a variety of concerns and experience levels with our dogs, she was able to address each participant’s unique needs and insure that we all were able to apply the various concepts appropriately. She made sure that we had adequate opportunities to practice the methods presented and provided timely and useful feedback so that we could be sure to properly implement these methods outside of the classroom setting. Elizabeth’s expertise and passion for her work, along with her kind and caring demeanor helped to make this a wonderful experience for me AND my dog. She even took extra time to help some of us with our individual concerns, all the while making us feel like our challenges were both valid and manageable. I would highly recommend her services, both in a group setting and for private consultation.

Elizabeth came to our home to help our fearful dog become more comfortable with car rides. Her positive reinforcement approach worked wonders and after 2 months of following her recommendations, our pup was willingly jumping into the car -- which meant we were then able to participate in her Beginner Dog class at Foothills Animal Shelter. Elizabeth was very attentive to the needs of each dog in the class and the progress each dog made by the end was inspiring. Elizabeth's method is a testament to how positive-reinforcement methods of training not only greatly influence the behavior the dog, but also the relationship between the dog and the human. Our trainers, Elizabeth and Kelly are absolute geniuses in Dog Psychology! We have 2 Special Needs Jack Russell Terriers that I didn't think could be helped. Our 5 year old, Dixie has fear aggression. She was raised as a puppy without human contact. Elizabeth and Kelly were able to gain her trust! We were in Amazement because we've been through other Dog Trainers in Calvert County. Dixie is allowing us to touch and pet her, she's not in constant fear and loving her training sessions, so are my husband and I! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Calvert Dog Academy!!! Elizabeth was so helpful with our reactive dog! In just 5 weeks of classes we’ve noticed a big difference in how calm he is around other dogs and how much less he pulls on leash. She made everything really easy to understand and got us working with Hank to lower his reactivity rather than against him. We learned so much and Hank really enjoyed going to class and doing the work. I truly cannot recommend Elizabeth and Calvert Dog Academy more highly.
