Following a wreck on the interstate this year, I experienced a serious concussion that made life quite interesting for months following. With a history of concussions and a lack of knowledge of how to really recover, a friend recommended having my brain mapped followed by a series of sessions of neurofeedback. Before stumbling upon Amazing Brains during a short vacation to Colorado, I had been struggling with DAILY concussion-related headaches and dizziness caused by a car accident TWO YEARS earlier. I was struggling to work, perform daily tasks, listen to music, participate in group conversations, drive, the list goes on.
I had been to dozens of doctors, and very few had even diagnosed me correctly, let alone offered any sort of guidance or treatment plans to help me get back to my normal life.

By some strange stroke of fate, I crossed paths with Ruth while I was visiting Vail for the first time, and when I briefly mentioned my struggles, she asked if I had ever tried neurofeedback therapy. I had never heard of it.
Ruth proceeded to go out of her way to open the Amazing Brains office on her day off in order to perform the initial brain map so that I could get results and a sample treatment before my vacation was over. Since I was visiting from out of state, she also researched places near my house that had similar treatment programs so that I could get treated at home.

Fast forward 4 weeks through a lot of research, pro/con lists, and big decisions, and I found myself back in CO for an extended stay so that I could receive a full round of treatment at Amazing Brains! I had checked out the places near my home…and nothing compared.

This turned out to be the best decision of my life. Since finishing my first round of treatment in November, I haven’t had ANY of my concussion headaches!! I have been able to listen to music, talk to people, work several hours straight, and get things done around the house without needing to sleep away my head pain! My dizziness and sensory overload issues have improved greatly as well! I have been able to start driving short distances again! I may need more/different treatment to get this back to 100%, but I know where to go!

I couldn’t think of a better place to spend 3 weeks…and not just because the mountain scenery is out of this world! The Amazing Brains office space was laid back, comfy, and inviting, and the people were genuinely caring and personable! We spent almost every single day of 3 weeks with Ruth (and Lauren, Chelsea, and Kelly a few times!). In that time I not only learned SO much about the brain and different types of injuries/treatments, but everyone also went out of their way to make sure we felt at home by suggesting places to go visit and eat at while we were out there.

When I say Ruth and everyone else at Amazing Brains saved my life, I am not exaggerating. This place and these people saved my life. My symptoms have improved night and day with only one round of treatment. The results have surpassed my wildest dreams. I am finally starting to feel like my old self again. It took me so long to write this review because I cannot accurately express how amazing it is to have (most of) my life back. Words just don’t seem like enough.
