I got misinformation from the Compliance Officer Mike Travis who told me to go to this place to get a permit “same day” he said. I got there and the lady at the counter said “no, you have to file it online” and it takes 10 business days for them to review your request. What a joke! The employees themselves misguide and give out incorrect information. Taxpayers are paying for this type of service!!!

Had a customer wanted a bath remodel. Adams county process for remodel permits it the biggest waste of time and most exhaustive process I have experienced with any jurisdiction in the Denver area. Job was to simply remove a built in cabinet/vanity next to shower to widen shower. Only permit you can apply for on remodels like this requires a plan review. I uploaded digital plans of the space with all measurements and details about project. I'm not building the empire state building or
a new home here, just moving some plumbing lines 16 inches to a new wall. You are made to wait 10 days for the plan reviews, only to then get a request of a floor plan for entire floor, and also asking if the footprint will be enlarges or altered. Are these people for real? Did they even read the 2 paragraphs of details or look at the plans? Its one space, widening a shower. Has absolutely no bearing or relevance to the rest of the floor. If anything you should be asking what's below it or above. Almost a month later of dealing with their antiquated website, waiting for delays, and jumping though more hoops the client finally decided to scrap the idea of the project. It really feels like this is their plan, to take permit fees upfront and drag out the process as long as possible while have the cancel form ready to send hoping you will eventually give up. Remodels of this nature have no business being under the single family dwelling plan review of your permits.

This is the 3rd house I have built for a customer in Adams County and I will not do another one. They do not understand the concept of customer service. Most of the inspectors think that being an a-hole is part of their job description, maybe it is, they do little or nothing to help you through the inspection process. In fact I had one by the name of Kevin that tried charge me an additional $75 for a second inspection for waterproofing. We used a clear waterproof sealer per the homeowners instructions, we left all 3 of the 5 gal cans in plain site for him to see yet he claims he did not see them on his first inspection, he did not see them because he was to lazy to walk down to the foundation level to see them. I had to get Justin Blair the head of the department involved to get the issue resolved. You would think they would be smart enough to understand that if we stop building they loose income, then jobs. Do yourself a favor and build somewhere else.

We've had many projects through the years that required building permits. I've only had good experiences, and the inspectors were very helpful. Hats off to Zach and Greg in the electrical inspection dept., very helpful and patient.

This "review" is specifically for MARK RUSSELL

MARK RUSSELL - PERMIT TECHNICIAN
WORST REPRESENTATIVE I HAVE HAD TO INTERACT WITH IN 3 YEARS OF WORKING WITH DENVER METRO PERMIT OFFICES!!!!

This department should be ashamed of the staff they employ.
MARK RUSSELL "accidentally" deleted our payment information which he insisted he could not take over the phone. Then gave my staff the run around when we tried to give him the information again, ended up requiring my co worker to give him my phone number to talk to me while I was out of state on bereavement to verify the information we had already provided him, and then processed the payment over the phone, which he stated originally he could not do.

I will probably have to cancel the corporate credit card used, as I suspect he kept the information for himself, which is why he required we email it to him from the first conversation, even though he was clearly able to take a payment over the phone.

This office needs to be auditied for PCI Compliance - USE CAUTING GIVING THEM ANY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!!!!

When I was verifying the credit card information over the phone and told him I had given this information to the contact he was already working with and that he shouldn't have had to call me for the same information while I was sorting out family business out of state due to a death in the family, he had the audacity to say "Well I am very busy , do you need to get a cup of coffee or something and call me back?"... Excuse me?
I had to take this call while at the State Veterans Cemetery with my grieving family. During all of this I also have to deal with this smart-a$$, rude, impatient person, who was told he was calling me on bereavement, not that it would have been an excuse to talk to me or anyone that way under normal circumstances.

Should I be sorry that the passing of my grandparent caused you to have to pick up the phone and do your job after you "lost" the information that was originally provided and then would not listen to my co-worker when he tried to re-verify (the exact same information I ended up giving him over the phone).

This "representative" very rudely BELITTLED me over the phone that I was on bereavement. Eventually realizing the whole issue was because he didn't pay attention when entering a credit card expiration date and transposed 01 as 10, even after it was emailed to him correctly and verified over the phone twice. (with email records to show this).

HE is beyond rude, does not pay attention to his job. He caused serious delays in getting a customer's sewer line repaired for customers in his county.

This person should be terminated, or demoted to a position where he does not interact with people. Perhaps they need a janitor, assuming he could manage those duties, which I don't have faith he would.
He has no business working with the public in any way and Adams County should be ashamed to have this man working for them.
THE WORST IN ALL OF DENVER METRO.

Adams County, you should be ASHAMED that you have this person on staff. MARK RUSSELL represents your county!!

The transcripts of my phone conversation (since it was a work cell) and all the emails as well as a letter will be going to the County Commissioner and any/everyone else who works above this excuse for a county representative.

SHAME ON YOU MARK RUSSELL
SHAME ON YOU ADAMS COUNTY FOR KEEPING THIS INCONSIDERATE, RUDE EXCUSE OF A REPRESENTATIVE EMPLOYED AND REPRESENTING YOUR COUNTY

They’re falsifying documentations under my business name to protect their own corruption practices. Behind the counter representatives stating loved ones own similar businesses in my industry as well. Putting me through a process waiting months for permits only to find out their system or representatives there of have doctored my qualifications into criminal standings. I showed up in person explaining there is to be work done under my qualifications only. They directed me to file a specific way according to doing so. Come to find out they catagorized me as filing for a license I don’t even posses. I’m going there this morning to see why it is they instructed and directed illegal practicings. Probably do to greed/control through corruption practices. Thus depicting me as the person committing false documentations. Also caught them changing there own rules in order to protect error rich practices indangering the lives of four families working with Xcel doing so. Xcel does not have a master license! They subcontract all there work out. Probably to the families of those working in the planning and development department. I’ve gotten threatened for saving those lives, Xcel stating they would charge me for protecting the citizens from death if they so much catch me performing improper practices. Then the department forces improper documentations! I denounce there practices and call for oversite into there education and processes. I might have to file with Dora and go after there licenses in order to get qualified answers in all this. My license which is the only license is probably something the people in there corruption circles, they don’t have. So they engineered a way around it. Claiming I must file with them a particular way, ignoring the facts. Super mad at them for breaking DORA PROTOCOLS and classification licensings. I did not file with a general contractors license and have stated that before trying to process. The people they trained indicated filing where only done through there specific process. I went the route they implied and here we are months later with completely wrong circumstances. They are denying my state issued qualification as a Master in my industry to line there pockets with funds that were to be directed to my industry. Claiming my license is invalid and that I need to work under someone of their preferences qualifications. Suspicion of hanging with others that don’t want to pay for services rendered under my license empowered by DORA, the organization that entitles their specific licenses. Uneducating the clerks into an idea that someone of my qualification has no merit without being under the rule of someone with less qualifications. Their process does not recognize actual Dora regulated practices. Therefor unjustly disqualifying my licenses range of available work that can be performed.

They lied to my face and said that if my neighbors did not have a permit to build a fence ON MY PROPERTY that they'd ask them to take it Down. Come to find out that the fence will remain up and that it is now a civil issue ... Which was exactly what i was afraid of. So even if a permit is denied, i can only fight it in civil court, which makes no sense.

Hoping the associate, Meghan was wrong- as she was also incorrect in nearly everything else she's told me.
