Called to make an initial appointment and I was unsure type of the insurance I had. The receptionist was rude and quickly gave info that was difficult to write. I was asked if I was sure or just making things up when trying to figure out my insurance. Fortunately, I read the reviews afterward and decided to not follow through.

I’m not sure about the therapy staff but the authorizations and billing coordinator makes it impossible to schedule an appointment. He responds quickly but makes me ask questions he should be providing answers to initially and then sounds aggressive when I ask general questions about availability and my options. He has slowed down my evaluation process because he had told me to call back the second week of march, which it isn’t even yet, to see if the schedule for april has opened. So I contact him and he then tells me that availability isn’t until may or june now. He keeps having me go in circles and always has a condescending tone.

I spent a lot of time trying to find a provider my insurance covered that did screening for kids to see if they needed a referral for testing. It’s not a simple task to find out who can take your kids and there isn’t much guidance for people to help with that. The insurance doesn’t know who screens kids or just treats them. Unfortunately by the time I found this place that does do screening for children, and waiting for the referral and the call back for an appointment, life had become very busy. A new semester started for me and my kids and I am trying to balance work, school, kids school, kids extra curricular, and deal with extreme behaviors from my kids that I am trying to get diagnosed. I wasn’t able to call answer their calls or call back immediately. It happens. They were so salty about me not calling them back right away that when I did finally have time to make the call (which I admit was like two weeks later) all they did was comment over and over how they called so many times (it was three phone calls over two weeks) and I didn’t return their calls. First from the physician, and then she had her staff call and say the same thing to me over and over. Then they told me that they sent the referral back to the insurance as per their policy. You would think of all places to understand the hardships folks face to find help it would be the mental health community. That was not my experience here. I now have to go through the whole process again, which can take weeks, because I didn’t answer the phone or call back fast enough. If you are lucky enough to be available all the time or able to drop things quickly for them then maybe you will have a better experience than I did, however if you are busy or overwhelmed with life, trying to manage multiple peoples lives without help then this probably isn’t the place for you. They are demanding over compassionate in my opinion. I’m really in need of help for my child and this place because another hurdle instead of the help I need.

The therapists I’ve had through Willowbrooks have been truly life-changing. The only reason I haven’t given them 5 stars is because the office very rarely answers phone calls, is slow to get back to you, and can be slow to pair you up with a therapist. Other than that, it is worth the headache to get to work with one of their therapists.
