Applewood Valley United Methodist Church - Golden, Colorado

When we moved into the Applewood region, this was the first church we visited, and we haven't needed to check out any other churches. Every church is made up of imperfect human beings, but this church has everything I was looking for. The teaching challenges me to be a better person every single week; the values imparted are exactly what I hope my children will adopt; the music is absolutely gorgeous and inspiring; and the people are warm, welcoming, funny, and down to earth!

I joined the choir as soon as that was an option, and that group of people has provided me with the most "belonging" I have felt since moving to Colorado. We laugh our butts off during rehearsals and hold space for each other when someone is hurting or in pain. Anyone is welcome!

There are only two handfuls of kids in the church at this time, but we just hired a new children and youth director, and our pastor is also invested in growing the population of young people. More kids come to youth group than come to church, but I feel very optimistic that the number of kids/children/youth will grow during the coming months and years. Even without many "programs" for my young kids, they are absorbing an ethic of service, an understanding of a loving God, and a commitment to justice. I am so, so grateful that Applewood Valley UMC exists (and is in my neighborhood!).

I went to a funeral here during December as part of the extended family. We were from all over the United States. We were treated wonderfully. The meal they had for us was wonderful! I was so impressed by The church choir that sang for the funeral. They even had an empty chair with a choir robe in a hymnal draped over it to represent the missing choir member. It was such a wonderful tribute.
After the funeral they allowed is quite a bit of time to visit well they serve snacks to everyone who came. It gave us a chance to talk to friends and more time to to talk to family. I could tell they were a church family that took very good care of my aunt and uncle. I know God will richly bless them for this ministry!

Felt welcome from the start. The music program is phenomenal. The staff is very friendly and spiritually gifted. Even if you are new to the faith or just exploring, you will feel at home very quickly. ALL are truly welcome!

I've never actually been inside... But I like the Methodist types. I just wanted to let people know there's a Pokemon Go gym and a stop here!
