I was involved in a rollover and was taken to this hospital with a fractured C2. I want to thank forever the fine EMTs who stabilized me, Dr Brown I hope
he's still there, and everyone at that hospital for saving my life. I could have expired and I thank God that hospital was there and those fine people. Thank you very much everyone.

Just want to express the excellent care we recently experienced for my mother-in-law. From the janitor to surgeons we didn’t have one negative experience. On June 11, 2024 she underwent emergency surgery and had an 5 day hospital stay. Everyone treated us with care. The nurses who cared for her on 3rd floor even sent a card upon her release to go home. Thank you to all for your excellent care!!!

My experience on May 13, 2024, was very unprofessional and spiteful of the so-called "Triage Nurses". While my wife was checking in for some pain, the rude person in front named "Selena" asked how she could help us with an attitude in her voice, and let's not forget her rolling her eyes at us. The whole time trying to get us admitted, she was very ill-mannered towards my wife and would frequently turn to her other nurse and say something and they would both look at us and laugh. While sitting down after being admitted, I would also overhear her and the other nurse talking down about some of what they would call "locals". This elderly man was trying to get through the doors and to go upstairs and I noticed that she purposely did not press the button in their office to let him through. Instead, she stared at him and turned to her other nurses who were laughing because they would not let him through. They also were glued to their phones when no patients would come in. I don't understand how a healthcare professional can accurately help others when they are on their phone. We ended up staying overnight and while some members of my family were visiting, once getting up to the room they all complained and said that the front lady "Selena" and the other nurse with glasses and curly blonde hair were being really rude to them such as rolling her eyes and even raising her voice saying that they were not allowed upstairs because visiting hours were over. However, she was aware and present when all of my family came upstairs with us after being admitted. This hospital is honestly a joke when it comes to "Patient Care" and the responsibilities of a Health care professional in a setting like this. I will definitely be contacting some of the higher-ups about this situation.

I recently spent 11 days in your ICU. Everyone was awesome on every shift from every department. The only issue I had was with the meals. They never got my diet right. But the nursing staff made sure I had something to eat. The staff in ICU & med/surg all work like a piece of well oiled machinery. Thank you to the staff for making me as comfortable as possible.

When I was there. They took over an hour to see me when no one else was in the ER and if I didn't call 911 it would've been longer. I couldn't walk and instead of putting in a bed they stuck in a cold back room with 2 chairs. Every test they did on me they made me wait 30 to an hour before getting me in. I even asked for water and they said they would get it right away and I didn't get it for 2 hours. Even though I clearly was sick and had something wrong with me. They sent me home and said nothing was wrong with me. The Alamosa ER is the worst one I've been to and they don't care about their patients that don't have insurance is what I noticed. I'll call and wait for my Dr. Before I ever go back for help.

I recently managed to get a small fracture in my hip next to a prosthesis. I was terrified. I went by ambulance from my town to Alamosa, 18 miles away. The people in ER went right to working finding out what to do. If it were a worst case scenario I'd have to fly out to Colorado Springs.

I was in ER a LOOONNNGGG time. Nobody likes that. I learned later (after a CT scan and X-rays) that the orthos at SLV Regional were conferring with the docs in Colorado Springs. Those orthos soon saw that the prosthesis was fine; the fracture was near in and barely and inch long. "Send her home" they said. I couldn't walk. I knew I needed more than that.

I spent four days in this hospital. I have never had better care in any hospital in my life. My nurses were knowledgeable and kind and just incredibly nice. The whole hospital worked hard to get me what I thought I wanted (to go to a rehab facility) and we were all imagining a month or more of in-patient rehab. Meanwhile I was cared for and physical and occupational therapists worked with me. The entire staff actually LISTENED to me and did everything in their power to make sure my insurance paid the bills.

Ultimately because of their care and therapy, and my reaching a better understanding of my injury, I opted to come home instead. Within 15 minutes of my leaving the hospital, I was already put in contact with home health and out-patient PT.

Rural health care obviously has limitations that urban health care doesn't, but that does not mean that the quality of care is less than you might find in a big city. To me it was important to be listened to, to know the staff has my interests at heart. And more -- being around the was just wonderful. In a way, I was sorry to leave.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed that ,we the people on Medicaid get a substandard level of care in the ER in comparison to others with private insurance.. If you have Medicaid you might as well expect to be treated a street person who is wasting thier time. BTW if you have a chance take a look at your health records on the patient portal and you probably shouldn't be surprised to find a different diagnosis than what they said to get you out of thie way of those with regular insurance. It's too bad because I did like the radiology staff and nurse practioner who took the time to see me since I didn't even rate the attention of a real doctor. However the admitting triage nurse was hostile and condescending. Perhaps they need sensitivity training to deal with those less fortunate than themselves.
