Napa Valley Railway Inn - Yountville, California

This was our first time staying here and we were extremely satisfied! The rooms, which are individual railroad cars, are set up so there is plenty of space and they are very clean. You are located right in downtown Yountville but the room is very quiet. Everything is right outside of your door. This is a great place to stay!!

The Napa Valley Railway Inn is a unique place to stay in the heart of Yountville. The hotel setup is a little unusual. The rooms are in converted rail cars. The hotel is small with one walkway straight down the middle. We stayed in a large and well appointed room that was very comfortable. The only issue perhaps is that you can hear the sound of other guests walking and talking in the hall. But I must say, the hall is inviting and a great place to check in and chat. The service was professional…the place feels family run. The location could not be better for walking and enjoying Yountville’s restaurants. Plus there is a nice little coffee/snack window attached to the property. We would return to NVRI without hesitation.

The location and room was really cute! I wanted to love it, but had some major issues here. I thought being close to washington would be a bonus, but we were kept up at night by loud drunk people on the main street. We stayed in room 3, which is right next to the cafe, and woke up to loud conversations and kids playing right outside our room. The cafe opened at 7 and there was no enforcement for customers to be quiet for inn guests. Worst of all was the lack of privacy. There is no deadbolt inside the room, and the door was opened and intruded at 10am while we were still in bed after a restless morning due to the noise. checkout is at 11 so it was extremely unprofessional to barge in while we were still in.

The bed was comfortable, room design was nice, and location is convenient, but due to noise and privacy issues, I wouldn't return or recommend anyone to stay here unless these issues are fixed

Spent a lovely week at the Napa Valley Railway Inn. The room was clean and comfy and very large plus the location in Yountville was terrific. The staff was gracious and very helpful. Communication with the owner was instant.

Perfect stay in the middle of Yountville! Our 3rd stay and we love the newly remodeled rooms. Very private and cute place to stay. You can leave your car in private free parking lot and walk all over Yountville. Very helpful and responsive owner/manager. Stay here!!!

We went to the Napa area for our anniversary. Not our first visit by any means. We usually stay in downtown Napa but decided to give the Railway Inn a shot. Needless to say, we were not disappointed and would highly recommend if you are looking for a modest place to lie your head after a day of wine tasting. The beds were ultra comfortable with extra pillows. The bathroom was just the right size for 2 people...still, we usually took turns. The room had a TV (that I think my husband turned on once), 2 sitting chairs and wine glasses for a nightcap. It even had 2 chairs and a table outside the door to our room. We sat out there a few times for wine and breakfast. I think there were only a few other guests during the time we were there, so it was very quiet. One morning, Balloons Aloft were taking off from the parking lot behind the Inn. Very cool to see it up close (even though we have personally done the balloons before)! Very quaint, lots of other restaurants and tasting rooms within walking distance. A big plus is the Mini Model Cafe located in one of the cabooses, which serves up breakfast sandwiches, coffees, lattes, etc. We had something from here every morning except our last morning (I think it was closed).|At any rate, we would highly recommend the Railway Inn to anyone visiting the area.

I couldn’t resist staying here while in Napa Valley for a work event. The property is charming. The staff have done a great job in making sleeping in a rail car sexy.

Towels, sheets and all the room elements are high quality. I stayed in a caboose so, the room might be smaller than others but given I wasn’t spending much time in the room it was fine.

Didn’t have much interaction with anyone as I was sent a code to unlock my front door and questions were answered via text.

Frankly if your into it, it’s kinda perfect. If you’re expecting room service and concierge…this is not your place. If you take the lest traveled path this might be a great fit.

We stayed in a caboose for three nights. We found our carriage to be charming, a little basic but had everything we needed. Bonus was having the Model bakery at the end of the hotel. We enjoyed breakfast from there every morning on the deck outside our room. The unique experience outweighed all the negatives but there were a few. The room AC was noisy and struggled in the +90F heat. The office was never “manned” while we were there, so to be honest it is a stretch to call it a hotel. We did not mind as our bodies were on Central time but be prepared for a hullabaloo at 5:30 am as hot air balloons take off behind the hotel at sunrise.
